153 - Aligning Social Media To Your Business with Matt Hanham

RECORDED IN PERTH: If you want to amplify your business online, you need to align your social media content with your business needs. Your content needs to be authentic to you and make sense to your audience because a confused mind will always say no. Your content has also got to be appropriate to the social media platform your using.

My guest Matt Hanham is the director of a Perth based digital marketing agency Visible.  He is also the host of #Amplify Your Business podcast.

2:20 - The Online Process - developing and finding a way to make content that makes sense to your business. It needs to add value or entertain. 

4:20 - You must have the right context for the platform you're on.

For example, Instagram: When they're in browse mode looking at pictures, they're not usually in the mood for buying, unless the picture captures their attention. It must be engaging. 

6:40 - The importance of sharing your interest and passions on social media

  • It must be authentic to you.
  • It builds your brand.
  • It must make sense to your target audience.

You can't post photos of your hunting weekend if you own and operate a business that works closely with Vegans, it would not make sense. 

12:30 - You can't just do what everyone else is doing in your industry. You've got to show your differences. It's not all about the craft you do. 

20:20 - Create content that will make people talk, but be authentic. Great content will amplify who you are and will create publicity.

Creating interesting content will make people pay attention, and then when you do open your mouth and talk about the craft you do, people will listen.
